I never cared much about Overwatch League, but I was this close to tears after seeing them win. The delivery and emotion on this video is impeccable, and to think a video about esports would make me this close to crying.
Rejoicing when you see others overcoming struggle is the most natural and human thing in the world. I can only hope to to do my best in replicating that feeling in others areas that you weren't expecting.
Love a good underdog story! Found myself cheering to try to drive the Shanghai Dragons while watching-even though I knew that the games had already been played....Story took me right in!
People love underdogs because there's a small part of us that always wants to believe we can achieve the incredible. Beyond that, it's always exciting to see it happen. Even having lived through the events myself, that same spark continues to evoke that sheering even when I know the outcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Sometimes games... Aren't just games. I'd like to think we all rise and fall with those around us. Let yourself feel it... That's our connection to each other. 😊
This was a great video! I absolutely loved it! There was lots of love to the video. I'd say at points like 1:49 and also at 2:36, and other similar ones, the music is slightly loud and its a tad difficult to hear you, but other than that, this was a good video, hope to see more! i actually really like it. Much love. ❤
I know i already commented but i really have to say that this video was VERY well made and had me at the edge of my seat even though i HAAAATTTEEEE overwatch with a passion and don't care about the pro scene at all but you held my attention to the end so well done! :)

I think even with the most simplistic of notions, there's often a really cool story underneath as to *why* it might be so simplistic. I appreciate the kind words and hope you find some value in the stories I have coming up. 😊
Absolutely amazing video. I quit playing Overwatch a few years ago, but I was around and supported Shanghai Dragons because they were the underdogs. I remember feeling such excitement and sadness when they lost 2-3 against Mayhem, and equal adrenaline and pure ecstatic happiness when they got their first win against Boston. Great times. Thanks for this video, what a great watch, and an emotional blast from the past
Absolutely amazing video man. One of those videos that are so well produced that you’re forced to notice it. I wish you well in your career, you’ve got some amazing skills!
Thank you for the extremely kind words. I just like telling stories, and helping others experience the journey of the people behind them. I will surely do my best... to do my best.
Man I miss Overwatch 1. It was so strategic. And the crowd energy was so cool, if only Blizzard was able to see their dream of Homestands come true. I had the privilege of going to one match live and it was amazing. Great video !

Haven't done so much as thought about Overwatch since those couple seasons of OWL, but this vid brought back vivid memories of cheering on the Dragons over Discord with a friend. Good times!
Thank you for the story. I had heard of their winless streak but I didn't know all of the details or context behind it, but it is nice to know that they managed to turn it around to win Stage 3 OWL and that the live crowd was so happy that they got their first ever win as well. I think that really speaks to the human element that no one likes to see a team with so much talent and hard work go winless, which makes it all the more sad when it happens but at the same time wonderful/relieving when it finally breaks. As for other stories to do I think you could do one on the OG Cloud9 League of Legends roster and their leader/shotcaller Hai. For a bit of context for the longest time the same 5 players on the team (Balls, Meteos, Hai, Sneaky, Lemonnation) played together without any roster swaps, with the first one coming in right before All Star Paris 2014 with CLG's Link temporarily replacing Hai at the event due to the latter's collapsed lung hospitalization (note that Link was Hai's choice as his temp replacement, and note that Hai did make a full recovery). After a 2nd place finish in 2015 Spring he retired as a player, and despite picking up Jensen (then called Incarnati0n) in Mid the team struggled in 2015 Summer, eventually bringing Hai back in as Jungler in place of Meteos. Finishing 7th in Summer thanks to winning the tiebreaker vs. Team 8 (thus keeping their Spring championship points & avoiding the promotion tournament) they pulled off a miracle run in the LCQ, reverse sweeping the first 2 matches & then 3-1ing their final match to get the final NA spot at Worlds.
Good tank leader makes a different. If you can go up and play such competitive game surely your abilities won’t far off from other top players. Didn’t expect this to be so emotional as well. Amazing cover on this

Excellent job on the video man! Really enjoyed this and gave me some nostalgia. I was a fan of OWL season one but dropped off after that. Glad to know those dragons caught a dub!
Their overall path ended up seeing them become one of the most dominant teams in the entirety of OWL in the years that followed. I think you can get into the debate of 'the ship of Theseus' at some point there, but even still, they surely turned things around in a big way after their season 1 debut.
I'd love nothing more than for that to become a reality. I'll do my best to make good stuff, but help ya boi out by sharing around where you can until then. 😉
I remember where I was when the Shanghai Dragons won their first match... I was driving to the drug store to pick up snacks, with the game playing through my car radio. When it looked like they were going to win, I sat parked in front of the store without going in, just to hear it happen live.
This story didn’t resonate with me based on its subject of Overwatch (I don’t play). This story hit hard for its overall message: no matter how far you’ve fallen, no matter how difficult the road ahead, you can always succeed if you remain focused and fully apply yourself to achieving your goals.
The vibes in that twitch chat during that first win in OWL were unlike any other. Boston fans just wanted to see Shanghai finally win, so did everyone. Everyone was rooting for them to finally win one.
Reminds me of the LoL team many years ago that actively said they were gonna lose and that they were just glad to be there and have fun. They got destroyed both in-game and out as they got memed hard.
In an absolute sucker for a good underdog story, so they were my team from the get go as well. It was definitely a great era to be a player and fan, for sure.
I don’t know why I started crying after watching this video. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m happy for them or if it’s just that I miss the old days when I used to play games together with my high school friends. I often took my frustration out on my friends when they played poorly. Maybe I just feel guilty about it.
Struggle, success, and stress are all powerful notions, and all of them are likely to evoke emotion. Whatever it is, just use it to spur on good things for the path in front of you. 😊
Their struggle... and triumph... brought fans together from all over the world. Cheers from one dragons fan to another on the opposite side of the globe.
The early days were definitely a little chaotic... But, it was also full of a lot of really awesome stuff that certainly couldn't have happened in the later years. Glad I could bring just one of these stories forward.
It definitely wasn't as dramatic on paper... But gawdammmm did they have an absolute SHIT show of a season behind the scenes. lol Definitely worth a video at some point if folks are into it.
Geguri was one of my favorite players in the entire OVWL, back when I gave a fuck about OVW. I would watch her stream even tho I didnt speak the same language and it was like at 3 am my time. Hope she's doing oka
That was a hell of a journey. In the middle of the journey, I was a Dragon fan and man... i wasn't dissapointed. The only team who beat G.O.A.T. Meta by going off Meta
Me and 5 friends showed up to a dota tournament in Dallas Texas thinking that we could compete. Mind you dota was still being played on warcraft 3 custom games so we only played each other mainly. We didn't get 1 kill in both of our knock out games. We thought we we're good too. Got humbled by some teens.
I recall back in the day there being some translated banter from the chinese ow scene saying that U4 had connections in NetEase that got him the job at the time. I remember a lot of the chinese sentiment was that shanghai wasn't a team that even represented their region properly cuz it just felt like a mid-tier open division nepo-team... which I mean, yeah... kinda was.

I remember watching this back in the day. Holy what a moment it was
I remember it well! Definitely an exciting moment!
Awesome vid man! I predict u at 1M subs by the end of next year. S Tier content !
I'd love nothing more than for that to become a reality. I'll do my best to make good stuff, but help ya boi out by sharing around where you can until then. 😉
Mad respect for showing up time after time and still trying. Even my ranked teammates can't do that.
Great video. Remember crying watching them win and I started tearing up again
insane quality, keep up the good work
A welcome kindness! Do take some time to poke around some older offerings...
They may not be as good, but, I can promise I tried just as hard. 😂
A message and principle I do my very best to remind myself of often.
I swear nothing was funnier than a Shanghai Dragons match in the first owl
Absolutely fantastic video. Instant subscribe.
Thank you for the kind words! Feel free to share around if you come across any vids you can comfortably throw your stamp of approval on! 😉
no but i feel like ppl dont understand how iconic they were bc everyone still loved themmm, except maybe their own fans lool
The vibes in that twitch chat during that first win in OWL were unlike any other. Boston fans just wanted to see Shanghai finally win, so did everyone. Everyone was rooting for them to finally win one.
I think this video is a gem thats taking a while to surface in the algorythim, I hope more people can find it
I hope so too! 😊
Reminds me of the LoL team many years ago that actively said they were gonna lose and that they were just glad to be there and have fun.
They got destroyed both in-game and out as they got memed hard.
Why did i start shedding tears while listening to this while making breakfast???? Lmaoooo
Did you run out of lucky charms? That'd do it for me.
The Dragons will always be my team! I remember rooting them on during this time. ❤Shanghai Forever! This was peak Overwatch and I miss it.
@@XDeej Yep. 3 years later, I reach to top500 as DPS, I felt like I achived something, but there's no one left anymore.
This was beautiful I laughed and cried 😂
I went through both of those ups and downs myself while making it. Hopefully you found the experience worth while. 😊
Greatest redemption arc ever.
My beloved Shanghai Dragons man what a F N ride that was from the bottom to dominating the league just a massive fan from New Zealand
Their struggle... and triumph... brought fans together from all over the world. Cheers from one dragons fan to another on the opposite side of the globe.
Very well made, sharing around. Keep these up
Even the smallest acts of support, when added together, can accomplish big dreams. Thank you for lookin' out.
this is a very well put together video
im so sad i missed this era of overwatch
The early days were definitely a little chaotic... But, it was also full of a lot of really awesome stuff that certainly couldn't have happened in the later years. Glad I could bring just one of these stories forward.
This team definitely had me on my feet.
Geguri my beloved
Great video, deserves way more views!
Well, they're continuing to roll in slowly. Don't hesitate to share around if you're interested in helping out the cause. 😉
great video, would love to see one on the uprising's season 1
It definitely wasn't as dramatic on paper... But gawdammmm did they have an absolute SHIT show of a season behind the scenes. lol
Definitely worth a video at some point if folks are into it.
Proud to say I seen this win live on twitch, such a beautiful day
Wow, what a video. I just became a dragons fan
Welcome to a large, welcoming, and continually growing club.
It’s one thing being a professional esports gamer, it’s another thing to be a professional overwatch player.
But being bad? It’s Joever
Chasing the Dragon is the perfect title lol
I stopped playing around the time season 2 was staring in ow league. Finding out they won a season blows my mind
Me and 5 friends showed up to a dota tournament in Dallas Texas thinking that we could compete. Mind you dota was still being played on warcraft 3 custom games so we only played each other mainly. We didn't get 1 kill in both of our knock out games. We thought we we're good too. Got humbled by some teens.
genuinely teared up watching this
damn dude you got me crying
I recall back in the day there being some translated banter from the chinese ow scene saying that U4 had connections in NetEase that got him the job at the time. I remember a lot of the chinese sentiment was that shanghai wasn't a team that even represented their region properly cuz it just felt like a mid-tier open division nepo-team... which I mean, yeah... kinda was.
Great job - love this
Why is Uber always casting these epic matches 😂 his casting is LEGENDARY
bro making me cry over here :c
I got the Shanghai dragons bastion and rein skins cuz I thought they looked cool. I was a stupid kid.
This video made me miss 2018-2020 Overwatch so bad. 6v6, OWL at its peak, Blizzard was less openly evil… damn
Damn this was sooo good
The kind words and encouragement are a gift. Don't forget to share around if you enjoyed it. 😊
More of this content!
I'm not crying, you are
I dont even play this game but I see 0-42 and I click. am a simple gamer.
Then you'll LOVE the video I make about my personal comp record. 😬
I didn't even have to look at the video or read the description to know it was the shanghai dragons.
Amazing video 🎉
i Dont even play this fucking game that much, i started tearing up. Amazing video
got me crying in the club rn
Pour one out for the dragons.
A great Video. 😊👍
Do I like Overwatch? No. Did I watch the entire video and subscribe due to the video quality? Absolutely
I appreciate the mentality and the support. Hopefully I'll be able to continue showing off stories in new spaces you haven't explored in the future. 😊
