One of the things I enjoy the most is finding the story *behind* the story... If you're aware of any events that aren't quite what they appear to be on the surface, be sure to let me know... They may end up being the next project I dive into!
It’s so funny to look back on history. Seems so odd now to see an entire crowd extatic to see the Shanghai Dragons win a match, given how that franchise dominated OWL for half of its seasons.
Perhaps it's just the universe balancing things out and paying back all the shanghai diehards the kept their hope alive through that first season. Regardless, it's definitely funny seeing how their franchise turned out in the long run lol
Not me crying over a single win in a game I've never played. I've seen a few videos about this streak, but never with this emotional delivery. Fantastic work.
I always prefer to get under the surface to see what the story behind the story is. At the end of the day, any story worth telling is about people, and after finding out what they went through (as a team, and as individuals), I knew I had to bring my personal take on this journey to a wider audience.
There's nothing more human than feeling sadness when you see others struggling, and feeling joy when you see them overcome. It's my hope that there are many who can relate to the ups and downs of this team, and I'm willing to bet there are many who react the same way.
@@XDeej Real, been a hard year for me personally, and me randomly clicking on this vid and hearing this story def made me emotional yet hopeful, Thank you 🙏🏾
As an avid player of Overwatch but also someone who knows nothing about Overwatch's 'pro play', this was a super interesting video to catch! That match against Boston was 😱
Even though I'm not a pro at anything gaming related, human stories where you see someone achieve something they deserve can still connect us all. If I offer anything to the gaming community at large anything, I hope it's that.
Love a good underdog story! Found myself cheering to try to drive the Shanghai Dragons while watching-even though I knew that the games had already been played....Story took me right in!
People love underdogs because there's a small part of us that always wants to believe we can achieve the incredible. Beyond that, it's always exciting to see it happen. Even having lived through the events myself, that same spark continues to evoke that sheering even when I know the outcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
Sometimes games... Aren't just games. I'd like to think we all rise and fall with those around us. Let yourself feel it... That's our connection to each other. 😊
I still remember that stage 3 win by the Dragons. They refused to play the GOATS meta and instead played 3 DPS 1 Ball comp. Then proceeded to stomp the top3 teams (NYXL, Vancouver, and SfShock) back to back.
Absolutely SICK approach. They always kinda did their own thing, whether it worked or not... I'm just glad it helped shift the meta away from being hard-stuck in goats forever.
All big things had to start as something small. Consider yourself in on the ground floor of something I hope to be doing bigger and better going forward. 😉
It definitely wasn't as dramatic on paper... But gawdammmm did they have an absolute SHIT show of a season behind the scenes. lol Definitely worth a video at some point if folks are into it.
This story didn’t resonate with me based on its subject of Overwatch (I don’t play). This story hit hard for its overall message: no matter how far you’ve fallen, no matter how difficult the road ahead, you can always succeed if you remain focused and fully apply yourself to achieving your goals.
i remember watching this match live with a friend of mine in a discord call. we were fucking yelling in hype as we were absolutely gassed. this was epic.
Shanghai was for sure my team during the first season, and it made it a ROUGH 9 months... It all paid off when I got to see them clutch it out. I too remember it well!
I mixed it for desktop speakers since I assumed that's what, on average, most people use, and since the whole soundtrack is from Overwatch, there's some moments where its given a little extra presence on purpose. That said, I always love hearing feedback, technical or otherwise, and if I miss the mark in a big way I always appreciate people politely pointing out areas where I have an opportunity to improve. Thank you for the kind words and the keen ear.
@@XDeej Its totally not a do or die thing, certainly not a mistake either. Just wanted to note that I was listening to you but the music was just a tiny bit too loud during the climaxes to hear what you were saying. I totally understand why you did so, and its hardly an 'issue', just wanted to leave some feedback. Looking forward to your future videos! (Im listening on headphones for context)
awesome vid!!! i could NEVER do what those guys did, if i was spending FOURTEEN FORCED HOURS A DAY, first to come and last to leave on a game only to lose all forty games of a season, i would quit XD
I can't even do things I enjoy for 14 hours a day... So, I'm SURE they were probably just miserable. After all the research I did for this video, I'm convinced that a lighter schedule probably would have ultimately netted them a lot more wins.
Fearless has definitely come a LONG way from where he started. That's for sure. I believe Gamsu went back to League of Legends... sooooo, Fearless definitely mops these days, no question.
They went 11-17 their first season, finished 4th overall in 2020, and went even in 2021... They weren't all that good, but to call them worse? Literally no shot. Ridiculous idea.
@@Spicy_Fries I think with only 16 games in a season as of 2022, it's just not enough games to say that a fair comparison can be made. Don't get me wrong... they were bad. For sure. But, I don't think they go winless across the same number of games. There's literally never going to be a team as underqualified and outmatched as the 18' shanghai dragons imo.

I dead thought i was going crazy crying over this 😂, such a great video

0-42,
Hmm, finally someone to rival my record of wins and losses
I had to lose the title at *some* point. I'm just glad to be facing such dedicated competition.

RIGHT??
Bro, you got me shedding ugly man tears over something I didn’t even know the lore on. Great job on the vid mate!
Whether in sadness for their struggle, or as a way to share in their joy... there aint nothing wrong with that from where I'm sitting.

I thought this was a video posted by a huge channel. Shocked to see you at 2k subs. You have a bright future!

insane quality, keep up the good work
A welcome kindness! Do take some time to poke around some older offerings...
They may not be as good, but, I can promise I tried just as hard. 😂
Absolutely fantastic video. Instant subscribe.
Thank you for the kind words! Feel free to share around if you come across any vids you can comfortably throw your stamp of approval on! 😉
great video, would love to see one on the uprising's season 1

Great job - love this
Cried the good tears and felt like 2019 again seeing them finally win
I'm glad I could assist in taking the trip back. It was definitely a powerful moment a long time in the making.
Very well made, sharing around. Keep these up
Even the smallest acts of support, when added together, can accomplish big dreams. Thank you for lookin' out.
Great video, deserves way more views!

The worst team ever is always the one I'm on.
A fellow solo queue player I see...
Video was amazing. Only comment is that the music is just slightly too loud for your voice. Otherwise was great!
